ALEXEI J. SLATER - WRITER

After my English Literature degree I spent 7 years working in production and development at HandMade Films - founded by Beatle, George Harrison. I founded Turn The Slate Productions in 2011 and made 8 short films. I`ve written 'spec' scripts for shorts, plays, TV pilots and features and continue to develop film and TV concepts while also consulting on work from early filmmakers. I also work in development for film financier Ikigai International and am an executive producer on 'Closure' starring Michael Kelly.

However...since childhood, my first ambition was to be a fiction writer. I have written quite a few short stories including 'The Taxidermist' published in the 2023 crime anthology from Murderous Ink Press in paperback and eBook available here: www.amazon.co.uk/Crimeucopia-More-Thing-Worry-About.  'Dubois, Wyoming' reached the Quarterfinals of Screencraft`s 2022 Cinematic Short Story Writing Competition.

I have also written three novel manuscripts (and a novella) and am now seeking representation for my first US set crime thriller.

CRIME WRITING CONFERENCES

I enjoyed Capital Crime 2024 & Capital Crime 2025 - meeting fellow writers, plus readers and bloggers and enjoying the inspiring panels from the UK`s leading crime and thriller authors. I also attended Slaughterfest 2025.
